LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say it started with a neighbor popping off at rabbits with an air gun -- but by the time the incident was over, an AK-47 was involved.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on Cliff Avenue, near West Ashland Avenue.

Police say rabbits were damaging a garden in a man's back yard, so he decided to shoot at them from his porch with an air gun.

That angered 64-year-old Rodney Wold, a next door neighbor. When Wold saw what his neighbor was doing, he allegedly went into his house and armed himself with an AK-47 assault rifle that was loaded with 19 rounds.

"If you want to hunt something, you can hunt men!" he allegedly said, pointing the gun at the victim.

Police eventually arrived on the scene and searched Wold's house with his permission. They allegedly discovered the assault rifle between the mattress and box spring of his bed.

Wold admitted to arming himself with the weapon and confronting his neighbor, police say.

He was arrested and charged with first degree wanton endangerment.
