LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say someone was stealing yard signs Wednesday night.

The signs were stolen from yards near the corner of Baringer Avenue and Willow Avenue, near the intersection of Eastern Pkwy. and Bardstown Road. Police say they were called to that area after someone took several "Size Matters" and "Willow Grande" signs from the neighborhood.

The signs were there to express residents' opinions about the Willow Grande condominiums, a proposed 17-story condominium development that was set to be built on the two-story Bordeaux Apartments. WDRB reported earlier this week that the zoning request had been denied.

When police arrived, they allegedly found 50-year-old Ron Liebermann walking on Eastern Parkway and carrying 10 signs. Police say that when they questioned Liebermann about the signs, he "became irate" and tried to walk away.

That's when an officer grabbed him, but Liebermann turned and clinched his fists, according to the arrest report. Police say the officer tried to take him to the ground, but Liebermann took off running. In the end, several officers were needed to restrain him, police say.

He was charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, menacing and receipt of stolen property.
