LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new park memorializes every war the United States has been involved in since the Revolutionary War.

Groundbreaking for the Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky was held today on the South Oldham County High School property.

The park is meant to recognize those who served in the military, and educate visitors about military history.

It's positioned between South Oldham Middle and High Schools.

In addition to being open to the public, it will be used as an educational tool.

"The way the park is laid out, it will take you through a timeline, all the way from 1776, to the present, and we've made plans for the park to be extended beyond 2013," said Jim Zimmerman of Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky.

The park is the second phase of a project. The first was building the Veterans Memorial Parkway road that leads to the schools.
