20,000 flags headed to Waterfront Park for Memorial Day observance

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Twenty thousand flags are headed toward Waterfront Park this morning to be part of a Memorial Day observance tomorrow.  The flags were loaded onto a truck in Crestwood this morning.

It's all part of an effort to remember the sacrifices of those who served in the armed forces, and the flags will be used again after Memorial Day.

As Fred Moore of Flags 4 Vets explains, "Then from here on, through November 11th, we'll be distributing these flags from Louisville, Kentucky to 42 states across the country."

Anyone who wants to take part in tomorrow's Memorial Day Observance can do so.  Volunteers can help for several hours or even just take a few minutes from their day to plant flags.

It happens at Waterfront Park starting at ten in the morning and is expected to last all day.
