Fire truck topples heading to emergency call

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shepherdsville firefighter suffered a broken leg after a fire truck toppled onto its side on the way to an emergency.

Deputy Shepherdsville Fire Chief, Terry Whittaker said the crash happened at the intersection of I-65 and Kentucky-480 around 4:30 Monday afternoon. Whittaker said, "The crew was responding to a fire at the Zappos fulfillment center in Bullitt County."

Wittaker said firefighter Jessica Stone will undergo surgery on her broken leg Tuesday at University Hospital.

Another firefighter and an officer on board the truck at the time of the crash are ok. Shepherdsville Police Department is investigating what went wrong.

Whittaker said there was minimal damage at Zappos.
