How to donate to the Jason Ellis family, reward fund

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Fraternal Order of Police has two memorial funds for Jason Ellis at the Wilson Muir Bank in Bardstown.  One is for his family, the other is a reward fund to aid in capturing the person who committed the crime.  If you're using a check, you're asked to make it out to the Officer Jason Ellis Memorial Fund or Officer Jason Ellis Reward Fund.

Crimestoppers has also added $1,000 to the reward, which is the maximum amount it provides.

Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin said his department has been receiving plenty of leads, but nothing that has panned out yet.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

But the Bardstown Police Department is advising people not to donate to a Facebook group called, "Giving forward Officer Jason Ellis Memorial Fund," saying it was not authorized by the family.  It says the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #43 will release information Wednesday about an authorized fund.

You can also leave donations in person at the Bardstown Police Department.
