Visitation for Jason Ellis to be held in Bardstown

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A large crowd is expected today at the visitation for a fallen police officer.  Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis will be remembered at Parkway Baptist Church from 2 to 8 p.m.

At the police department, flowers, photographs and mementos cover a police cruiser honoring Ellis.  His wife Amy says she's honored by what the community is doing to remember her husband.  "I feel the prayers and the support and I wanted to thank everybody," she said Tuesday.

Ellis was killed after being shot multiple times early Saturday morning on the exit 34 ramp of the Bluegrass Parkway.  Authorities say he stopped to clear debris that investigators say was intentionally placed there.

The reward fund for information leading to an arrest now tops $32,000.

Ellis' funeral is tomorrow, which would have been his seventh anniversary with the department.
