Steve Nunn apologizes to Amanda Ross' family for her death

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Former Kentucky lawmaker Steve Nunn has apologized to the family of his former fiance, Amanda Ross -- the woman he was convicted of killing in 2009.

Nunn is serving a life sentence for her murder. He made the apology during a Lexington court hearing.  He said of Ross' mother Diana that "my heart is broken for her."  Diana Ross was not in the courtroom when he spoke.

Those were the first comments he had made about the killing since pleading guilty.

Steve Nunn is the son of the late Louie B. Nunn, who served as Kentucky's governor from 1967 to 1971.
