SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- A northern Indiana man is facing murder charges alleging that he fatally shot a teenager last year after luring him to a South Bend park.
Tyree Justin Scott was charged Friday with murder and attempted robbery in the February 2012 death of 18-year-old Christopher Simril. He remains jailed at the St. Joseph County Jail.
The charges allege that Scott brought several associates to a South Bend park and shot Simril multiple times when he arrived, allegedly to sell Scott some marijuana.
The South Bend Tribune reports that Simril was a Washington High School senior who was in the Upward Bound program at the University of Notre Dame and was a few months away from graduating high school.
