Emergency landing in Louisville for plane carrying former president

Posted: Updated:

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- A private jet carrying former President George W. Bush made an emergency landing in Louisville Saturday night.

It happened on a flight from Philadelphia to Dallas.  The pilot reported the smell of smoke on board. And the Gulfstream 4 landed safely in Louisville at 8:46 p.m.

It's uncertain what caused the alarm or what happened once on the ground.

But Bush's office in Dallas says he arrived home safely early this morning.
