LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Two Kentucky State Police troopers from the Frankfort post were honored at the annual KSP awards ceremony.

Trooper First Class Ron Turley was named Post 12 Trooper of the Year for his work in community relations and helping children.  He has been a D.A.R.E instructor for over twenty years and has completed 352 community service programs.

In fall of last year, he raised over $12,000 for the post's Shop with a Trooper campaign, providing Christmas gifts to 138 children from 89 families.  He also helped raise over $20,000 last year through raffle tickets and a golf tournament to help Trooper Island, a summer camp for underprivileged children.

Turley is a 26-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police.

Detective David "Buck" Brennan was honored as Post 12 Detective of the Year.  He has investigated numerous crimes with child victims and worked closely with the Internet Crimes Against Children to battle child predators.  He was also lead investigator of an officer-involved shooting in the Frankfort area in December of 2012.

Brennan is an 18-year veteran of KSP.
