Court appearance focuses on whether abuse suspect will live to be tried

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Will a former Louisville priest accused of sexually abusing boys live to see his trial?  That was the focus of the argument as James Schook appeared in court Wednesday.

He's accused of abusing two boys in the 1970s, but was just charged last year.  The case has been delayed because doctors said there was a possibility Schook may not live to the end of this year.  Now doctors are saying he could live several more years.

Schook's trial is expected to start on Monday.
