LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Bardstown Police Department is inviting the public to attend the dedication of a memorial plaque to honor fallen officer Jason Ellis.
Police say Officer Ellis was clearing tree limbs from the road when he was shot multiple times on an off-ramp to the Bluegrass Parkway in the early morning hours of May 25. Investigators think the tree limbs were intentionally placed there as part of a plan to kill Ellis.
Today, the Bardstown Police Department announced that a plaque dedication ceremony will be held Tuesday, June 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the police department.
Roxann King of Keith Monument Company dedicated the plaque to Ellis, according to a news release. The plaque will be mounted outside the police department.
"We welcome the media and the public to attend as we continue to heal and pay tribute to our fallen hero," the release states.
No one has been arrested in connection with the murder.
