LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- At the Shelbyville Road Plaza in St. Matthews, is about ready to open an outlet store in the old Borders Book Store location.  Workers on Friday were preparing for next week's opening.

New York based is a members only on-line retailer that offers high-end merchandise at reduced prices.  Now for one month only, Louisville area residents will be able to buy its products from an actual store.

You need not be an online member to visit the store.

"There are going to be lots of products," says Chris Halkyard, the chief supply chain officer, "including home goods, furniture, apparel, shoes, kids clothes, just about everything you see in a normal department store you will see in this pop-up store."

The company has opened several pop-up stores in other cities, but only for a couple of days. The Louisville operation will be the first time it will open a store for a month. has its main distribution center in Bullitt County.  "As we sell through all of our product with our on-line sales," explains Halkyard, "even if we sell just about everything, we may still have a few leftover products, so the stores are a great way to liquidate merchandise."

The company says a brick and mortar store also allows it to reach out to non-members and get them interested in the online retailer. says there are no plans to open permanent stores.

The Shelbyville Road store opens Friday June 28 and will remain open through Sunday July 28.
