LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say the woman charged with DUI and murder over the weekend has been accused of driving under the influence in the past.
Records show that 38-year-old Jennifer Pierce was also charged with DUI in October of 2011 in Oldham County.
This past weekend, Pierce hit a pedestrian around 12:30 Saturday morning on Aiken Road, just east of the Gene Snyder Freeway, police say.
Court records show at the time of the accident Pierce had a blood alcohol level of 0.296 -- which is more than three times the legal limit. Police records also state that Pierce was too intoxicated to stand up.
Witnesses told police Pierce hit 47-year-old James Holt with her Kia Sedona Minivan. They say he stopped on the side of the road in his pick up truck, and approached her after she hit him.
Pierce is currently being held in jail on a $50,000 bond, and is expected back in court next week.
