ELKHART, Ind. (AP) -- A man who plans to field a new independent baseball league says he will build a stadium at the site of a large farmers market in northern Indiana that closed in 2010.
The Elkhart Truth reports Miracle owner Craig Wallin says he is buying about 20 acres from Elkhart's Waste-Away Group and plans to build the stadium at the former American Countryside Farmers Market on the city's south side. The plan is to use the building for a clubhouse, indoor hitting tunnel and training facility.
The team plans to play in the Northern League that is scheduled to begin play next year.
Wallin says he plans to have a ceremonial groundbreaking Friday and excavating on the $6 million stadium could begin next month.
