LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Waterfront Park may soon be making its way west.

City officials have now decided it's time to make an expansion to Waterfront Park.

The Metro Council recently approved a $40,000 "Waterfront Park West" development plan. The new plan calls for the addition of a new park on 20 acres of vacant, city-owned land just west of 10th Street.

City officials say the long-term plan of "Waterfront Park West" is to connect Portland, Shawnee and Chickasaw neighborhoods to downtown.

Executive director David Karem says the new park could have a playground, amphitheater and perhaps a lawn for festivals.
