NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A New Albany man has been arrested for engaging in sexual misconduct with a minor -- and police say a 14-year-old girl became pregnant as a result.
According to a probable cause affidavit, New Albany Police say they were contacted by a woman on Feb. 20, whose 14-year-old daughter was 6-7 weeks pregnant. Police say the child told them she had been sexually active with 20-year-old Darrin J. Griffin, and a second man she refused to identify.
Police interviewed Griffin on March 9, according to the probable cause affidavit, and he admitted to being in a relationship with the 14-year-old. He allegedly said that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl on at least two occasions, and he was aware of her age. Police say he also knew about the pregnancy and believed the child was his.
According to the affidavit, the 14-year-old victim, "had aborted the child on the 16th day of April, 2013."
Darrin Griffin was arrested on June 21 and charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, according to court documents.
