LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Blasting for the East End Bridge tunnel begin Thursday afternoon. There will be one blast around 2 p.m. and another at the same time Friday.
For safety reasons, traffic at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Kentucky 841 will be stopped in all directions for about 5 to 20 minutes prior to the blasts. Next week, the blasting will become more frequent.
It's being done to build the 1700-foot tunnel under U.S. 42 and the Drumanard Estate. Blasting will be done after the morning rush hour and before the evening rush to try to minimize major backups.
The blasting will continue through the middle of 2015.
