LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Four Louisville Metro Corrections inmates have been accused of assaulting a fellow inmate Wednesday evening.
According to criminal citations, it happened shortly after 7 p.m. in one of the dorm rooms on the fourth floor of the facility. Authorities say 36-year-old Corey Hawk grabbed a broom handle and used it to beat the victim -- a male inmate -- in the face a body, knocking him to the ground.
That's when 22-year-old Andrew Lottlee, 25-year-old Decarlo Douglas and 20-year-old Chiz Summers -- all fellow inmates -- allegedly joined in the attack. According to court documents, the four men kicked, stomped and punched the victim. When it was over, authorities say Hawk bent over and spat on the man.
The victim had to be taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.
All four of the suspects were charged with second degree assault.
