LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Martin's Press in New York announced Thursday that Rick Pitino is working on a book about the University of Louisville's NCAA championship season and other reflections.
The motivational book is titled, "The One-Day Contract: How to Add Value to Every Minute of Your Life." Pitino is writing the book with WDRB sports journalist Eric Crawford.
According to St. Martin's, Pitino's new book will cover the championship season, as well as "years of personal and professional experience."
The publisher's website, through parent company MacMillan, calls the book "an inspiring and practical guide" in which Pitino draws on his own successes -- and failures -- in crafting a strategy not only for weathering life's most difficult storms but for getting to the top, or even returning there.
"The neat thing about this is that when Rick first came to me, he'd been through some difficult things and they'd just lost to Morehead State and he was talking about a book about how to get through tough times," Crawford said.
"By the time we were finished, he'd won a national championship and been elected to the Hall of Fame. It was interesting to watch that process. He never had to look far for examples, because he coached so many guys who had inspirational stories of fighting through adversity, and from his own life he didn't back away from difficult subjects."
The book will be available Oct. 1. The publisher's web site for the book may be seen by clicking here:
