PARIS, Ky. (AP) -- A fire inspector has ordered dozens of teens to evacuate a facility where a summer camp was being held for those interested in military service.
Paris Fire Department inspector Mike Duffy told the Lexington Herald Leader that he closed two buildings at the U.S. Army Cadet Corps Millersburg campus in Bourbon County after finding issues with wiring and other problems. He said about 70 teens and some adult staffers were ordered to leave until repairs are made.
Corps spokesman Brian Lehnhardt says the facilities are old and are being renovated. He says no cadets, recruits or staff were ever in danger and they have been moved to other buildings on and off campus.
About 170 children ages 12-17 are participating in the camp that began June 23.
