LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Jenna Day of Louisville is the new Miss Kentucky and will now go on to compete in the Miss America pageant.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the 21-year-old University of Kentucky student beat 32 other contestants to win the three-day pageant that ended Saturday night.

Besides entry into the Miss America pageant in September, Day also won a $12,000 scholarship and a new Lexus.

She will also have a full-time job with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture for a year, representing the department at various events across the state.

Day says she will also advocate for improving the lives of special-needs children.
