The Fashion Council teaches young adults poise, confidence and style

Posted: Updated:

Fashion Council is a yearlong program meant to build fashion sense, confidence and self esteem in children and young adults.

Participants attend an hour-long training session once a month on modeling and professional etiquette. Fashion Council attendees typically participate in TV appearances, fashion shows and fund-raising events during the year.

Fashion consultant Jo Ross has run the program for 15 years.

The council has two age groups, children 6 to 12 years old, and teens and adults 13 to 20 years old. Participants are required to attend all regularly scheduled meetings, with only one absence allowed.

Applications are available online, click here for Mall St Matthews, and here for Oxmoor Center.

Fashion Council participation costs $100 in October and $100 in April.
