Officials say they are considering scrapping plan to stagger tolls, aim for full tolling in fall 2016.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Despite heavy rains in the forecast and the cancellation of other local festivities, the Waterfront Independence Festival celebrated the Fourth of July with clear skies.
Kool and the Gang headlined the concert festivities just prior the fireworks show.
This might be the last year for the festival, as organizers with the Waterfront Development Corporation say sponsorship for the event has been on the decline since 2008.
The two-day event costs roughly $300,000 to put on. In late July, organizers plan to start finding more corporate sponsors and money to keep the festival going.
WDRB's Stephan Johnson said heavy presence from LMPD kept the festivities orderly, but after the event traffic along Preston Street was congested with cars and pedestrians.
