Lane closures begin for work on downtown bridge

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lane closures begin Monday night for construction work on the Ohio River Bridges project.

The left lane of I-65 north and south from the Kennedy Bridge to Muhammad Ali Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Additional lane closures are scheduled. The left lane of the ramp from I-64 west to I-65 south will close from 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9th through 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10th.

The right lane of I-65 south at the Jefferson Street ramp and the left lane of the exit ramp will close from 9 p.m. on Tuesday through 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Crews are also preparing to shut down the ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South. It will close July 15th, and remain closed for the duration of the project. The project is expected to end in 2016.

The ramp closure is needed as crews build the new downtown bridge.
