Swim suit season is well under way. Carlos Rivas shares his 3 Easy Weight-loss Solutions for the Summer.
Summer is the easiest time to start your weight-loss journey. The days are longer and you do not have any excuses left to stay bundled up on the couch at home. The following tips will lead you to make this summer a fitness success!
1. Exercise early in the morning or just before sunset: Do not plan long outdoor exercise sessions during the most extreme heat of the day. Start with 15 minutes of exercise and increase the length of time you stay outside as you get acclimated to the warm weather. We recommend adding 5 minutes each week as you get used to exercising outside. Strength training outside is easy and fun! Start with these simple and effective exercises: a. Dumbbell Squats to Shoulder Press: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions b. Reverse Lunges: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions c. Chest Press with Band: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions d. Pushups: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions e. Rowing with Band: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions f. Dumbbell Rows: 1-3 sets/10-12 repetitions g. 2. Get Hydrated: Most of us are dehydrated and we do not even realize it. We recommend that you drink half of your body weight in fluid ounces. Drinking the proper amount of water per day will help you get energized, increase muscle mass, and reduce fat mass. A great deal of the time when you feel hungry, it is actually thirst. You are less likely to overeat when you fill your belly with water! You can flavor water with a squeeze of fresh lemon, orange or by adding slices of cucumber.
3. Eat more fruits and vegetables: A variety of fruits and vegetables are now in season! Now is the perfect time to start devoting half your plate to fruits and vegetables. Loading up on colorful fruits and vegetables lets you eat a higher volume of food while feeling full and saving you on calories.
