Young boy responsive after being buried in sand hole

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A young boy buried for hours in a huge hole filled with sand in northern Indiana is said to be responsive.

Six year old Nathan Woessner's grandfather says the boy is moving his arms and legs. Doctors say they are continuing to try and remove sand from his lungs.

Woessner has been in critical condition at a children's hospital in Chicago since he was rescued Friday.

The incident happened at Mount Baldy in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

A prayer vigil was held last Sunday for Woessner.
