LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana conservation officers are investigating after the drowning of 3-year-old boy at Patoka Lake.
The Harrison Co. Coroner says Jayce Stallings drowned around 3 p.m. Monday at Patoka Lake.
The incident occurred near the Little Patoka Boat Ramp. The child from Deputy, IN had been swimming from a boat just prior to the incident, authorities said.
Several boats were anchored together offshore along with the boat the boy had been swimming from.
Witnesses say that the boy appeared to be wearing a life jacket, but was removed when he wanted to warm up.
The boy was last seen sitting along the edge of the boat on a cooler just before going missing. He was found around 4:08 p.m. by Indiana conservation divers and was transported to Harrison County Hospital, where he was treated and later pronounced dead.
