Berger serves 18 months, new Mayor appointed tonight

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 18 months is all that's left in the term for Elizabethtown's new Mayor, Edna Berger.

Today starts her first week in office.

The former councilwoman is taking over for Tim Walker, who died of a heart attack last month.

Berger says she will not seek election for a full term, and will focus her appointed time in office on completing Walker's vision.

She says job creation and downtown development remain the top priorities for the city.

Tonight, the Elizabethtown city council appointed Terry Shipp to take Berger's seat.

Shipp is local business owner with his brother and was voted in unanimously.
