Beshear not interested in Murray State presidency

Posted: Updated:

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) -- A spokeswoman for Gov. Steve Beshear says he does not plan to apply for the presidency of Murray State University.

Beshear's communications director, Kerri Richardson, says that she's not sure where word started of the governor's interest in the job, but there's no foundation for it.

A search committee is seeking a replacement for former president Randy Dunn, who started his new job as the president of Youngstown State University on Monday.

The MSU Board of Regents formed a presidential search committee last month, and the committee plans to meet July 26. The committee plans at that meeting to choose a search firm to assist in the search for a new president.
