Nature causes delays to bridges construction

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Demolition of the first section of the old Milton-Madison Bridge has now been delayed. The delay comes after high water and a swift in the Ohio River.

The main section of the span was scheduled to come down in a series of blasts Wednesday morning.

Now the work has been rescheduled for next Monday morning, but that work could possibly be further delayed if river conditions do not improve.

During the blast there will be temporary closing of the adjacent new bridge that carries US 421 across the Ohio River between Milton, Kentucky and Madison, Indiana.
