Traffic runs smoother than expected following lane closures

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Major traffic changes in Spaghetti Junction didn't affect the Tuesday morning commute as much as anticipated.

As crews continue working on the Downtown Crossing project, I-65 South will be down from three lanes to two from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard for widening for the next three years.

The I-64 East ramp to I-65 South will also be closed until 2016 during the Spaghetti Junction transformation.

The closures started 9 p.m. Monday.

Trimarc officials monitored rush hour traffic, and they say the morning commute was smooth.

An inspection of the Kennedy Bridge leaves I-65 South down a lane all this week, and down a lane on the northbound side next week.
