LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of people withstood the heat to dress up for the sixth annual Jane Austen Festival.
The Jane-ites and other fans of the 19th century came out to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Pride and Prejudice.
Organizers tried to break the world record for people dressed up in regency attire, but fell about 50 short of the goal.
This year, the festival introduced a regency promenade, where people donned attire from the 18-hundreds.
The event's celebration of history even brings fans from out of the area.
The festival continues on Sunday from 10 to 5 p.m. at Locust Grove.
The weekend's events include a reading marathon, a fashion show and a performance of an original play.
