Baptist Health Sports Medicine is hosting a Head Injury Prevention Symposium on Saturday, July 27 from 9:00am -11:30am.
The symposium focuses on preventing concussions and other head injuries during sporting events
The program is for parents, coaches and athletic trainers.
Neurologist Tracy Eicher, MD, will discuss "Evaluation and Management of Sports Concussions," with time for questions and answers.
Plus 15-minute sessions from other physicians.
Mark Puckett, MD, family and sports medicine, will discuss "On-Field Evaluation of Head Injuries, When & Where to Seek Treatment".
Also a demonstration and discussion of the Neurocom balance and mobility assessment equipment & an ImPACT testing demonstration, used to assist in determining an athlete's ability to return to play after suffering a concussion.
Student athletes can be fitted for a helmet for football, lacrosse or baseball by Shively Sporting Goods staff members, and receive a $20 discount on helmets purchased at the event.
