LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville men's basketball team got one important accessory before its trip to the White House on Tuesday.
Kenny Klein, U of L sports information director, says the team got its championship rings today, and pictures are starting to fill up the Twittersphere.
Klein Tweeted out photos this morning. The championship rings have a color Cardinal head inlaid in a panel of stones on the front, with the national championship logo on the left side below the word "Louisville." The team's 35-5 record is at the bottom of the panel.
On the right-hand panel the player's name, along with the Big East logo and the year.
The Cardinals will meet President Obama on Tuesday at 2 p.m. They'll then go to the Capitol to tour the building as the guests of Senator Mitch McConnell.
WDRB's Eric Crawford and Steve Andress will be in Washington D.C. for the trip. Follow along at WDRB.com and on WDRB News.
