NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Two people were hospitalized after a motorcycle crash early this morning.
It happened just before 3:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Corydon Pike near State Road 111 in Floyd County, Indiana. According to a news release from the Floyd County Police Department.
According to a news release from the Floyd County Police Department, a 911 came in about the crash at 3:27 a.m. When officers arrived at the location, they found the female passenger was severely injured.
She was flown to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her name was being withheld until family members could be notified.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) found that a red 2011 Honda sport motorcycle struck a deer in the roadway. The motorcycle was being operated by Chad Small of Lanesville, Indiana. He was transported to Floyd Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Neither Small nor his passenger was wearing helmets.
Police say criminal charges are expected due to alcohol and speed being involved in the crash.
