LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Simpsonville, Ky. man has been arrested after St. Matthews Police say he stole $20,000 worth of merchandise from Toys "R" Us.

According to an arrest report, police were called to the Toys "R" Us on Shelbyville Road, near Mall St. Matthews, Thursday evening on a report of employee theft.

When officers arrived, store security explained that 25-year-old Philip Michael Glassner -- an employee who had worked for the store for several years -- had been under investigation for stealing merchandise. Police say Glassner admitted to taking store merchandise for the past 4-5 years.

St. Matthews Police searched Glassner's home with his permission, and allegedly recovered over $20,000 worth of merchandise.

Glassner gave officers a written confession, according to the arrest report, and said he stole the merchandise to supplement his income due to "family issues."

He was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.
