Indiana pilot who crashed was on test flight

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana pilot who crashed into a home was on a test flight when the accident happened.  That's according to a friend of the pilot, Gerald Clayton.

The 81-year-old had reportedly made repairs and the flight was to see if those repairs worked.  The friend says Clayton had problems with the plane in 2011 and had to find a certified mechanic to repair it.

Clayton is in serious condition at Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis.  His passenger, Dennis King, is in fair condition.

A woman in the home was not hurt.
