LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting a death investigation at Hardy Lake after a woman drowns early this morning.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Nancy Burton of Lexington, Ind.

Around 1:00 a.m. the Scott County Dispatch received a call of a female unresponsive in the water where officers and the Scott County EMS responded.

Burton was transported by boat to shore, but CPR efforts were unsuccessful.

She was not wearing a life jacket and had entered the water from a boat before becoming unresponsive. Her husband was in the boat at the time.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor but no foul play is suspected.

Toxicology and cause of death results are still pending.
