LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cell phones in the classroom could soon become a reality for JCPS.
Currently, the JCPS policy prohibits cell phone use at school. But the school board has approved a measure that may soon allow schools to apply for a waiver.
The schools would have to develop their own plans for constructive use of smart phones in the classroom for learning purposes.
The school board would have to approve the plan. JCPS officials say this is a way for schools to show innovation and embrace technology.
Students without smart phones would have access to computers to use the same apps and programs being used on phones.
