New report finds TSA misconduct up 26 percent over three years

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Security is being put at risk because of what the TSA is doing.

That's the finding from a new report. It shows misconduct from TSA officers is up 26 percent over three years. Specifically, the report cites instances of sleeping on the job, stealing cash out of luggage, leaving posts and letting people through security without being screened.

Congress is outraged and held a hearing Wednesday.

The report found workers are fired 17 percent of the time, but overwhelmingly, those found not following the rules are giving a letter of reprimand or suspended.
