Mayor proposes no property tax increases

LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- For the third straight year people in Louisville won't have to pay more in property taxes.

City officials say there will not be a property tax increase.

Mayor Greg Fischer presented Metro Council with an ordinance that keeps the real estate tax at the same level it has been since he took office.

"Our goal is to run a very lean government as efficient as possible," said Mayor Greg Fischer, "And we think we're doing that, but holding is important for us and the citizens paying that."

The mayor also says with the end of the recession, the city's financial situation continues to improve.
