Don't swim in the creek: MSD reports sudden sewage spill

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  (WDRB) -- MSD reports a sewage is spewing into Pond Creek along the Pond Creek Trail in southern Jefferson County.

The agency says it started at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon in the 2400-block of Lamborne Blvd., in an area roughly between South Third Street Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Crews were trying to find the source of the sewage discharge and said more than 1,000 gallons of sewage, including "solids and debris," in addition to a discoloration of the water were seen in the area.

MSD says it cannot start any cleanup until the discharge is stopped.  It warns people in the area to avoid contact with any water in the creek or downstream from the location for 48 hours after the discharge is stopped.

Bottom line:  stay out of the water.
