Joe Huber's to hold candlelight service for murder victims
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Joe Huber's Family Farm & Restaurant has announced that they will hold a candlelight vigil to remember an elderly couple who were brutally murdered in their home last weekend.
Court records state Austin Scott and Kevin Drew Schuler implicated themselves in the murders of 70-year old Gary Henderson and 57-year old Asenath "Senie" Arnold after being arrested by New Albany police on an unrelated charges Saturday morning. Scott is accused of repeatedly stabbing 70-year old Gary Henderson to death. Schuler is accused of using a "wooden stick with a metal end" to beat 57-year old Asenath "Senie" Arnold to death.
An arrest affidavit states the two teens entered the home with the "intention of stealing items."
The teens have both been charged with three counts of murder.
On Thursday afternoon, representatives of Joe Huber's announced that a candlelight service will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. at the farm -- specifically in the barnyard by the pony carousel that organizers say Henderson built himself. Family and friends will be asked to share their stories of the couple, and the Henderson family will be accepting donations for funeral costs.
Joe Huber Jr. says Henderson worked weekends at his farm for 20 years.
"He did a lot of pony rides in the fall every year," Huber said. "He also would bring his carriage up and give people rides into the front of the restaurant, and that way people wouldn't have to walk so far, or he would do the carriage rides for our wedding events."
