POLICE: In-home caregiver stole credit cards from 61-year-old
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville caretaker has been arrested after police say she stole a credit card from her 61-year-old client's purse.
According to an arrest report, the incident took place on July 16. Police say 35-year-old Ethel L. Lewis was employed as an in-home caregiver for the elderly woman, when she took the woman's credit card out of her purse.
She then allegedly used the credit card at the CVS Pharmacy on Lexington Road, near Frankfort Avenue, to purchase $600 worth of gift cards, without her client's permission.
Police say she, "knowingly used her role as victim's in-home care provider to steal the elderly victim's (who suffers from dementia) credit card and use it for her own personal gain."
Lewis was allegedly caught on surveillance video at the CVS Pharmacy. Police say she turned herself in on Wednesday, and provided a written confession.
She was arrested and charged with knowingly exploiting an adult and fraudulent use of a credit card, according to police.
