LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Heavy equipment is moving in to turn an eyesore into a new park in Jeffersonville.

An abandoned gas station once sat at the corner of Allison Lane and Middle Road, until it was torn down a few years ago.  Now crews are working to transform it into Allison Brook Park.

It's the first park in the annexed area of the city.  The seven-acre park will include green space, walking trails, a playground, and a community garden.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore said Friday, "We'll have probably about 40 little plots, people around the community, there will be a small fee, it will become their plot and we'll see some vegetables growing here next spring."

Moore says he expects the park to be developed and usable next spring.
