Back to School Jamboree for Parkland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)-The Baptist Fellowship Center held a Back to School Jamboree for the Parkland Neighborhood on Saturday.

The event was a collaboration between the Fellowship Center and the Parkland Neighborhood Improvement Association

Six-hundred children received free school supplies thanks to donations from individuals and partner churches.

"The people that are receiving it are much appreciative to get these school supplies and then the people who are donating it are doing it with a great sense of joy knowing that it feels really good to help someone else, especially in the area of education," says Reverend Matthew Smyzer, Director of Baptist Fellowship Center.

Reverend Smyzer says the Baptist Fellowship Center is celebrating 100 years in the community by caring for two of the community's greatest needs -- education and healthcare.
