LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after police say he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend during an argument.
Police say 28-year-old Robert Butler got into an argument with his girlfriend -- who is six months pregnant -- after she found text messages from another woman in his phone.
After finding the text messages, police say the girlfriend "became very emotional."
According to an arrest report, that's when she went into the kitchen and got a warm glass of water and poured it on Butler while he was sleeping.
Police say Butler woke up very upset, grabbed the woman by the hair and threw her to the ground, hitting her in the head and near the eye with a closed fist.
As she tried to get up from the ground, according to an arrest report, Butler "put his arms around her neck and began to choke her."
Butler was arrested Aug. 19, and charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
