LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man was arrested after an accident and admitting that he left a small baby home alone.
According to an arrest report, 41-year-old Dennis Vorhies II hit another car head on Brownsboro Road near Herr Lane.
Police say when they arrived on the scene of the accident Vorhies was very confused and disoriented, and officers "smelled a faint smell of alcohol."
Vorhies told officers that he had been up all night with his four month old baby. Police say Vorhies also went on to say that he "just left his home in order to get something to eat and had just put the four month old to bed," and that the baby was home alone without care. Officers on the scene also say they saw an empty car seat in Vorhies' car.
According to an arrest report, the mother of the child was at school and could not be reached.
Police say they were let into the home by property maintenance and found the baby alone.
Vorhies was arrested on August 19th, and charged with wanton endangerment, abandonment of a minor, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
